Stars, clouds, people: anything that moves or changes can be captured with time lapse. If you have some amount of time, you can create a video that makes subtle changes appear quick and dramatic.
To make a time lapse video of the sunrise, for example, you will need a few tools: an olloclip, a tripod, iTimeLapse and a battery for your phone. There are many different ways to create a time lapse video. Below are tips showing one way to do it.

How to Create a Time Lapse Video of a Sunrise:
1. Know where the sun is going to appear in the sky. There is an app called LightTrac which will tell you where to point the camera. At $4.99, the app is on the expensive side, but it is important nonetheless.
2. Mount your iPhone to a tripod (we used the Joby GorillaPod and our own olloclip case + photo dock). Frame your shot using LightTrac or your own intuitive knowledge of where the sun will rise (we wish you luck).
3. Plug your phone into a USB battery such as Mophie, so you don’t run out of power during the big event.
4. Download and open a time lapse app. We like iTimeLapse Pro ($1.99 at the iTunes store). The app is very simple to use, but let us know if you find something you like that is cheaper. We set the duration to 1 hour and 20 minutes capture time, then set a 2 second snap interval. You can adjust this to whatever capture time/interval. Your subject matter and available time could be factors you want to consider. Max camera resolution for videos playable on your iPhone is 720p.
5. Press Start Time Lapse.
We like to spend this time drinking a cup of coffee and reading the paper. You can pretty much wander off and do whatever while the images are being captured. After the times up, you can render your video to 720p. Now it’s ready to be watched.
Additionally, you could use iMovie (or some other video editing app) to speed up or slow down your time lapse after you capture it.
Share your videos with us on YouTube, Facebook or Twitter and #olloclip. We’d love to see them!
